EAST ANTRIM BATTALION TABLE TENNIS COMPETITION - COMPANY SECTION
Christopher Finnigan, Ross Jamison, Christian Robinson, Will Aston and Adam Fittis entered the Junior Competition. Aaron Hutton and Jamie Cameron represented 8th Carrick in the Senior Competition.
Both competitions were held in Ballynure Presbyterian Church Hall on Wednesday 11th November 2009.
Junior Singles
Will Aston reached the Semi Final but was narrowly beaten 21-15 and 21-17 by Michael Richardson of 1st Ballynure. Will won his 1st round match 11-2, 11-0 and his 2nd round match 11-9, 11-3.
Ross Jamison also reached the Semi Final but lost 5-11 and 5-11 to Matt Sewell of 1st Ballynure.
Adam Fittis won his first round match 11-2 and 11-6, but was beaten in his second round match 10-12 and 4-11.
Christian Robinson lost his 1st round match 6-11 and 13-11.
Will and Ross both received Bronze medals.
Senior Singles
Jamie Cameron came up against Andrew Evans of 1st Greenisland and lost 11-9 and 11-5 in the 1st round.
Aaron Hutton pulled out all the stops and reached the Semi Final but came up against tough opposition in Mark Turner of 1st Ballyclare (the competitions best player) and was defeated 16-21 and 14-21.
Aaron received a Bronze medal.
Junior Doubles
Adam and Ross teamed up together but lost their 1st round match 11-4 and 11-5.
Will and Christian joined forces and played brilliantly to reach the Final, only to lose 16-14 and 11-6 to Matt Sewell and Michael Richardson of 1st Ballynure.
Will and Christian both received Silver medals.
Senior Doubles
Jamie and Aaron narrowly lost their 1st round match 10-12 and 8-11.
Overall, 8th Carrick received 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals on the night - Well Done boys.
Once again an excellent turnout and the standard of play was extremely high with all competitors showing a great standard of sportsmanship.
